Ohio prohibits vitamin E acetate in cannabis vape devices

Ohio medical marijuana regulators banned vitamin E acetate in vaping devices, only days after federal health officials linked the additive to cases of vaping-related lung illness. The ban is preemptive, as none of Ohio’s licensed processors uses the additive in its vape oils, according to The (Cincinnati) Enquirer.

Maine looking into marijuana advertising at arena

Maine regulators are investigating concerns about marijuana-related advertisements at a sports arena, as state laws prohibits cannabis ads that are designed to appeal to or will reach people younger than 21. Several parents whose children play sports at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine, complained about the ads, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Rhode Island politicians continue legal spat over cannabis rules

Lawmakers in Rhode Island asked a judge to dismiss Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo’s legal challenge to a new medical marijuana and hemp law, which gave the Legislature the right to veto regulations imposed on the industry. Lawmakers argued in a legal motion that the court doesn’t need to intervene because House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio, both Democrats, have committed to repeal the language when the Legislature reconvenes in January.

With a bill to legalize medical cannabis expected to be introduced in the Alabama Legislature in 2020, Republican state Sen. Tim Melson has asked a MMJ commission to study a draft of the proposal and make any recommended changes. Melson championed a medical marijuana bill last spring.

Federal authorities are investigating Boston’s contracts and payments with marijuana companies as part of a statewide probe. A federal grand jury subpoenaed the city for records of interactions between local officials and marijuana company representatives, according to The Boston Globe.
